We start the tree with Robert TUBBY and Mary CALTHORPE who were married in 1770 at Morley St Botolph, Norfolk. Robert was born around 1745 and possibly had at least 2 brothers, John TUBBY married to Ann and James TUBBY married to Elizabeth LONG. Robert & Mary had 5 known children: William, Sarah, Charlotte, Ruth and Robert, but in 1780 Mary Calthorpe died. Robert married his second wife Mary BREAM (or Brame as it is sometimes written) in 1785 at Wymondham and they had a further 6 children:William Brame, James, John, Robert, Margaret and Thomas Cann.

  1. William Brame married Sarah about 1814, either in Norfolk or Middlesex, and their first child Sarah was baptised in Jan 1815 in Tottenham, Middlesex. They had at least 8 other children: Robert, Sarah, James, Hannah, Robert, John, Jane & Mary, but unforunately the first Sarah and Robert died and the names lived on in other siblings. Some of the children went to Australia. (See below) Williams' wife Sarah died in 1852, and in the same year he was married in Bethnal Green to Hannah WEBBER. With 2 young children to look after Robert found himself another wife in Elizabeth BRIDGE and they married in 1827. They had 1 child, Christiania. In 1860 it seems he took himself a third wife, Susannah Mary ABSOLOM, a widow.
  5. Margaret married James DOWNES at Morley St Peter in 1819, he was already a widower. Margaret and James appear to have stayed in Norfolk all their lives.
  6. Thomas Cann, the youngest of Robert and Marys' children. He married Ann MOORE at St Stephens, Norwich in 1824, and moved to Islington, Middlesex around 1829. Click here to see the family of Thomas & Ann

The last of this particular branch to move on was James Ayliffe TUBBY, William Brames' grandson, James' parents being James TUBBY and Charlotte Ann BUDDLE.
