JOURDAIN IN AUSTRALASIASeveral members of the JOURDAIN family took the journey 'down-under'. William Edward JOURDAIN (grandson of Nicholas JOURDAIN and Lydia ROBINSON) with his wife Maria Louise MEGGY, who married in 1859, took their family to New Zealand. Their children were:
Next, Nicholas JOURDAIN's nephew Joseph Charles JOURDAIN went to Australia where he married his first wife, Ann MOORE in 1835. They had 4 children, but Joseph later married M A C FORREST and they had 5 children. Joseph died in the U.S.A. Henry David JOURDAIN, brother to Joseph Charles, also went to Australia where in 1879 he married Lucy ANDERSON in Melbourne, and he died there in 1895. Two more brothers decided to travel half way round the world, this time nephews of Joseph and Henry, by the names of Albert Stanislaus JOURDAIN and his brother Cornelius B JOURDAIN. They both set their sights on Tasmania, Cornelius as far as is known went alone and Albert took his wife Alice BOUTELL and their 2 children: Claudine Alice and Sydney Albert. Their third child, Henry Edward, was born in Tasmania.
